Mother Arrested for Child Abandonment After Deputies Find Four Children Home Alone in Harris County
On December 19, 2023, deputies from the Harris County Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to a welfare check in the 24800 block of Elmira Street in Tomball, TX.
The investigation revealed that the mother, Christina Stewart, had left her four children, aged 8, 5, 4, and 2, home alone without adult supervision, in the absence of food, water, or heating on a day with a low temperature of 55 degrees.
Upon the deputies’ arrival, Stewart returned and was subsequently taken into custody.
Child Protective Services were alerted and briefed on the details of the case. The four children were released to a family member who arrived at the scene.
Stewart was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, facing charges of Child Abandonment with Intent to Return. Her bond was set at $10,000.00 by the 228th District Court.
