Monterey High School Student Arrested in Lubbock Drug Deal Shooting

A 17-year-old individual is currently in custody, facing charges of Aggravated Robbery in connection with a shooting incident that took place in central Lubbock on Thursday evening.

On September 7, 2023, at approximately 6:15 pm, the Lubbock Police Department responded to reports of shots fired in the 5500 block of 37th Street. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered 19-year-old Madison Nunez suffering from serious injuries. She was promptly transported to University Medical Center via ambulance for medical treatment.

Initial investigations, conducted by the Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit in collaboration with the Texas Anti-Gang Unit, have revealed that Madison Nunez had allegedly planned to meet 17-year-old Jeremiah Bush on 37th Street for an illegal narcotics transaction. Tragically, during their encounter, Jeremiah Bush reportedly shot Madison Nunez and fled the scene.

A warrant for Jeremiah Bush’s arrest was issued on September 8, 2023. Subsequently, investigators apprehended him at Monterey High School on September 11, 2023, around 9:00 am.

The investigation is ongoing.
