Missing Bastrop Man Found Alive in Creek Bed

BASTROP, Texas—A 47-year-old man who was reported missing on September 5 has been found alive in a creek bed in a heavily wooded area.

The man was reported missing by his family after he left his residence on Hwy 95 North wearing only a pair of pants and did not return. A search was organized by investigators on September 8, which included ground crews and a drone. During this search, a pair of pants matching the missing man’s were found.

Due to concerns about a possible medical emergency, the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office coordinated a more extensive search. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) assisted with a helicopter. The DPS air crew located an area with a large number of buzzards and guided ground crews to the spot.

At approximately 4:39 p.m., the missing man was found alive in a creek bed. He was asking for water and was in need of immediate medical attention. With the help of ESD 2 fire crews, he was transported from the creek to a nearby ambulance. He was taken to a hospital by Acadian EMS and is expected to make a full recovery.
