Missing 2-Year-Old Found Safe After Overnight Search in Coke County

On June 25, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Coke County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a missing 2-year-old child who had wandered away from their home in a rural area of the county. Deputies immediately launched a search operation to locate the child.
After an extensive search that lasted through the night, the child was safely located at approximately 8:15 a.m. the following morning. The child was in good health and transported to a hospital for a precautionary evaluation.
The successful recovery involved coordination among multiple agencies, including:
- Coke County Sheriff’s Office
- Texas Department of Public Safety (including Texas Rangers, DPS Air Support, and DPS Troopers)
- Texas Parks and Wildlife
- Sterling County Sheriff’s Office
- Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office and Dispatch
- San Angelo Police Department
- Runnels County Sheriff’s Office
- Taylor County Sheriff’s Office
- Robert Lee EMS
- Robert Lee Fire Department
- Bronte Fire Department
- Winters Fire Department
- Wingate Fire Department
- Texas Forest Service
- Texas Division of Emergency Management
- Numerous citizens from Coke County
Sterling County Sheriff Russell Irby located the child and was credited with the rescue.
The Coke County Sheriff’s Office also recognized Deputies Hernandez, Lopez, McGlothlin, Neal, and Eudy for their work during the incident. Sheriff Billy Williams expressed gratitude to all agencies and individuals who contributed to the operation.
