Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit Investigates Fatal Shooting in North Lubbock

The Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is currently conducting an investigation into a Sunday evening shooting that claimed the life of a 29-year-old man. Lubbock Police received a distressing call regarding gunshots in the 2600 block of 2nd Street at approximately 7:15 pm on October 15, 2023.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered 29-year-old Nicco Reyes, who had sustained gunshot wounds, near the intersection of 3rd Street and Boston Avenue. First responders transported Reyes to University Medical Center via ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation suggest that a civil disturbance occurred at a residence in this location, ultimately escalating into a shooting incident. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case, and authorities are actively pursuing leads in their efforts to uncover more details surrounding the incident.
