Man Posing as Wedding Venue Owner Defrauds Clients in Ongoing Willis Scam Investigation

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating multiple cases of Theft by Deception involving a man falsely claiming to own the Charleston Lane Wedding Venue at 7041 Kingston Cove Lane in Willis.

According to investigators, the suspect has been using the alias “Lance Miller” to contact individuals seeking to reserve the venue for weddings and other events. He has allegedly collected large sums of money through wire transfers, cash payments, and mobile payment apps under the false pretense of securing bookings. Authorities confirmed that he is neither the owner nor an operator of the venue.

The fraudulent activity has prompted a full investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, which is working to identify all victims and gather additional information. Detectives are urging anyone who believes they were targeted in this scheme to contact them at 936-538-8393 and reference case number 25A151828.

The investigation is ongoing.
