Man Found Shot Dead in Bedroom Closet, Teen Brother Arrested for Murder

Houston police have arrested Christopher Mares, 18, in connection with the fatal shooting of Jose Mares, 27, on Saturday evening. The incident occurred at an apartment complex located at 3903 Erby Street.

Jose Mares was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds in a bedroom closet. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to witnesses, Christopher Mares, the victim’s brother, was identified as the perpetrator. Following the shooting, Christopher Mares fled the scene. However, he later surrendered himself to authorities.

Christopher Mares has been charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
