Man Fatally Stabbed in El Paso Altercation, Suspect in Custody

On Sunday morning, September 24, 2023, El Paso Police officers responded to a stabbing call in the 4100 block of Kasper Way. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 46-year-old male victim who had sustained stab wounds and was unresponsive. The victim has been identified as Juan Antonio Gonzalez-Garcia, a resident of Northeast El Paso.

Mr. Gonzalez-Garcia was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital.

During the course of the investigation, law enforcement authorities determined that the victim had been involved in an altercation with a 43-year-old individual named David Luna Mijares. Mr. Mijares is a resident of Mission Valley in El Paso.

Later on the same day, officers located and apprehended David Luna Mijares at a Wal-Mart parking lot situated at 1850 N. Zaragoza. Subsequently, he was taken into custody and charged with Murder in connection with the incident. Mr. Mijares is currently being held at the El Paso County Detention Facility, with a bond set at $250,000.
