Man Fatally Stabbed Before Crashing Into Ditch in Houston; Suspect Arrested

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man found at 3900 Maggie Street around 8:25 p.m. on Sunday, March 2.

Gustarvo Vargas, also known as Ivan Emmanuelli, 48, is charged with murder in the 177th State District Court. The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Godfrey Whiting.

According to Houston Police Department Homicide Division Detectives D. Davis and C. Davidson, HPD patrol officers responded to a stabbing call and found an unresponsive man with an apparent stab wound after he crashed his vehicle into a ditch at the scene. Paramedics transported Whiting to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

An investigation led to the identification of Vargas as a suspect. He was arrested and charged on Tuesday, March 4.
