Man Charged With Murder in Fatal Parking Lot Shooting on Martin Luther King Boulevard

HOUSTON, Texas – A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder following a fatal shooting Friday night in a parking lot along Martin Luther King Boulevard, according to the Houston Police Department.
Officers responded around 9:45 p.m. to reports of a shooting at 6500 Martin Luther King Boulevard, where they located 25-year-old Devontray Laws suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Laws dead at the scene.
Houston Police Department Homicide Division Sergeant L. Kauffman and Detective A. Beiza said officers at the scene located a male who admitted involvement in the shooting.
Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, authorities charged Andre Demetrius Ball, 20, with murder. The charge was filed in the 179th Criminal District Court.
Ball was taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
