Cypress, Texas — A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder following a deadly shooting Wednesday evening at an apartment complex, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched around 7:00 p.m. on April 15, 2026, to the Regency Park Apartments in the 11300 block of Regency Green Drive after a 911 caller reported he had shot another man during a physical altercation.

When deputies and EMS arrived, they attempted life-saving measures on the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the shooter and several witnesses were detained as homicide detectives responded to investigate.

Detectives determined the two men, identified as friends, had arrived together at the apartment complex. Investigators said a verbal argument escalated into a physical fight outside an apartment unit near the parking lot, during which one of the men produced a handgun and shot the other.

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Anthony Perla. His body was transported to the medical examiner’s office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause and manner of death.

After being medically cleared, the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Christopher Jordan, was taken to the sheriff’s office for questioning.

Jordan has since been charged with murder and booked into the Harris County Jail, where he is awaiting his first court appearance.

The investigation remains ongoing.
