Man Attacks Deputies and Threatens to Kill Sergeant Inside San Jacinto County Jail

San Jacinto County, TX — A man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he assaulted deputies and threatened to kill an officer while being processed at the San Jacinto County Jail.
According to the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were in the Shepherd area during the early morning hours of March 4 clearing a call for service and conducting proactive patrol.
While driving through the Shepherd Travel Center, deputies were flagged down by a man requesting assistance.
Deputies made contact with the man, later identified as German Turrubiartes. During the interaction, deputies discovered that Turrubiartes was unlawfully carrying a handgun in his waistband.
Authorities also observed behavior indicating that Turrubiartes was not in full control of his mental and physical faculties, raising concerns for the safety of both himself and others nearby.
Based on the circumstances, deputies placed Turrubiartes under arrest for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
After being transported to the San Jacinto County Jail, Turrubiartes was taken to the search area to be processed. Officials said he was temporarily unhandcuffed as part of the standard search procedure before booking.
At that point, authorities say Turrubiartes became violent and began fighting with jail staff, striking a detention officer in the face.
Investigators said he then began fighting with the patrol sergeant who had arrested him, striking the sergeant multiple times while threatening to kill him.
Additional members of the sheriff’s office responded and were able to regain control of Turrubiartes and secure him in custody.
He has been charged with Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, Assault on a Public Servant, Terroristic Threat Against a Public Servant, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
Authorities remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Anyone with information about criminal activity is encouraged to contact the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office or Multi-County Crime Stoppers.
