Man Arrested for Murder of Food Truck Owner in Houston
Charges have been filed against a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting that took place on October 13, at 8524 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) service road around 3:45 a.m.
The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Jimmie Wayne Daniels, has been charged with capital murder in the 487th State District Court.
The charges stem from the alleged involvement of Daniels in the killing of 29-year-old Roberto Almaguer Garza. Houston Police Department (HPD) patrol officers responded to a shooting incident at a gas station located at the above address and discovered Mr. Almaguer Garza suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced him deceased.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that Almaguer Garza was the owner of a food truck and had been confronted by a male suspect who attempted to rob him at gunpoint. During the robbery, a struggle ensued, leading to Almaguer Garza being shot multiple times. The suspect subsequently fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
Subsequent investigation efforts led to the identification of Jimmie Wayne Daniels as the suspect. At the time of his arrest, he was already in custody for unrelated felony incidents. On October 26, Daniels was formally charged for his role in the fatal shooting.
