Jury Acquits Austin Man of Child Sex Abuse Charges

On Thursday, October 12, 2023, a Travis County jury acquitted Jesus Carmona-Flores, 34, of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child after a three-day trial.

Mr. Carmona-Flores was initially arrested on September 29, 2021 by the Austin Police Department and charged with Indecency with Child by Sexual Contact for an alleged offense in November 2017. On April 5, 2022, he was reindicted on the more serious charge of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child.

Jury selection for the trial began on Monday, October 9, 2023 and testimony commenced on Tuesday, October 10. After hearing all the evidence, the jury deliberated and returned a not guilty verdict on Thursday afternoon, acquitting Mr. Carmona-Flores of the felony charge.
