Man Arrested After Shooting Victim Seven Times, Girlfriend Detained

Day Shift Patrol Deputies collaborated with the Harris County Violent Persons Task Force units to apprehend J’Shawn Plattenburg at 13900 East Fwy. Plattenburg was sought for “aggravated assault with a deadly weapon” stemming from a February 2024 incident in Barrett Station where he allegedly shot a male victim seven times. During the operation, Plattenburg’s girlfriend, Katrell Cannon, was also detained and questioned by detectives.

Following a vehicle search, Day Shift Units levied an additional charge of “unlawful carry of a weapon” against Cannon. Authorities found an unholstered pistol and 2oz. of marijuana in her vehicle at the time of their arrest.

Both J’Shawn Plattenburg and Katrell Cannon were subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail without further incident.
