Man Arrested After Reckless ATV Crash Seriously Injures Child in Splendora

Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to an ATV crash late Wednesday night that left an 8-year-old child seriously injured and resulted in felony charges against the driver.
On December 18, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 14000 block of Cedarwood Oaks Road in Splendora. When they arrived, investigators determined the crash was caused by the reckless driving of 32-year-old Hunter Hudson.
According to witnesses in the neighborhood, Hudson had been seen operating the ATV in a dangerous manner with a child passenger prior to the crash. The 8-year-old child sustained severe injuries and was initially transported to a local hospital. Due to the seriousness of those injuries, the child was later airlifted by helicopter to a Houston hospital for advanced medical care. The child is currently listed in stable condition.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. Based on their findings, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Hudson with Felony Injury to a Child.
Hudson was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information is being released at this time.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is reminding the public that operating ATVs can be extremely dangerous, especially when safety procedures and traffic laws are ignored. Officials urge riders to follow all safety guidelines to prevent serious injuries or deaths, particularly involving children.
