Liberty County Man Arrested for Impersonating an Officer and Drug Possession
Jonathan Alejandro Aguillon

A Liberty County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrested Jonathan Alejandro Aguillon, 19, on March 21, 2025, after he allegedly impersonated a public servant and was found to be in possession of controlled substances.

The incident began around 11:43 PM when a deputy was dispatched to County Road 5803 regarding a suspicious white vehicle with red and blue emergency lights but no markings, which had followed a complainant home. The vehicle was gone upon the deputy’s arrival.

At approximately 12:18 AM, the deputy located a white 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, matching the description, behind a Chrysler minivan at the intersection of CR-3550 and 5709. The deputy activated emergency lights and contacted the driver of the Chevrolet, identified as Jonathan Alejandro Aguillon.

Aguillon allegedly told the deputy he was “trying to help the community” by finding “plugs who sell drugs” and contacting law enforcement after asking drivers if they were involved in selling.

The driver of the Chrysler minivan stated that Aguillon, displaying “officer” lights on his Chevrolet, had stopped him. When the driver asked for Aguillon’s name and badge number, Aguillon reportedly claimed he was working undercover and could not provide that information.

During a safety frisk, the deputy found a small bottle containing pills identified as Xanax and Oxycodone in Aguillon’s pocket. After being read his Miranda Rights, Aguillon was taken into custody.

He is charged with:

  • Impersonate a Public Servant – Felony 3
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Xanax) – Felony 3
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Oxycodone) – State Jail Felony

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that if they suspect a traffic stop is being made by a fake officer, they should drive slowly to a well-lit, populated area, call 9-1-1, and remain on the line with the dispatcher while stopping to verify the officer’s identity.
