Drugs seized during raid

CLEVELAND, TX – While the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office was hosting a National Night Out event, its Narcotics Unit and Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigators were executing a search warrant that led to the seizure of multiple guns and a large quantity of narcotics and cash.

The search warrant was executed on Tuesday, August 5, at a residence located at 126 Road 3556 in Cleveland, where 19-year-old Luis Alfredo Salinas was identified as a suspect in the distribution and sale of illegal narcotics. The warrant was obtained after deputies made several traffic stops and an arrest was made for narcotics purchased from the residence.

During the search of Salinas’s bedroom, deputies recovered:

  • Seven semi-automatic handguns, including two Draco AK-47 style pistols with high-capacity drum magazines.
  • Approximately 4,556 grams (or 500) of THC Vape Cartridges.
  • Numerous THC edible candy bars.
  • 4.1 pounds of bulk marijuana.
  • 2 grams of Xanax and 2 grams of Oxycodone.
  • 1,584 grams of Psilocybin Mushrooms.
  • A case of Promethazine/Codeine Syrup.
  • Approximately $17,000 in U.S. currency.

After being read his legal warnings, Salinas admitted to possessing everything found in the residence. He was arrested and charged with five counts of felony Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance and one felony count of Possession of Marijuana. Three of the charges were enhanced due to the weight of the narcotics. A seizure will be filed on the currency.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office stated it was proud to remove “these types of weapons from the hands of these young people that are involved in the distribution of narcotics.” Authorities are asking anyone with information on illegal activities to contact the Sheriff’s Office or their local law enforcement agency.
