League City Police Officer Arrested on Family Violence Charges

League City Police Officer Matthew Pearson, 35, has been arrested and charged with Assault by Contact – Family Violence, a Class C Misdemeanor.

The criminal investigation has been transferred to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office at the request of the League City Police Department.

Pearson, an employee of the League City Police Department, has been placed on administrative leave pending both the criminal investigation and an internal investigation by the LCPD’s Office of Professional Standards.

Update: The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office has additionally charged Matthew Pearson with Interference with Emergency Request for Assistance, a Class A Misdemeanor. GCSO’s investigation is ongoing.
