League City Police Arrest Wanted Man After Foot Chase and Citizen Tip

On Saturday, February 8, 2025, League City Police officers attempted to arrest a man wanted on multiple warrants in the Ellis Landing subdivision. The suspect, later identified as 49-year-old Donald Bertsch of Dickinson, fled on foot. Officers, including K9 units, searched for him for an hour and a half before discontinuing the search. Police remained in the area patrolling and issued an alert to the public with Bertsch’s description.
Later in the day, a citizen who had seen the police alert recognized Bertsch near Kroger Marketplace at West League City Parkway and Hobbs Road. As officers arrived at the scene, Bertsch ran into Pet Supermarket. Police set up a perimeter, and Bertsch surrendered without further incident.
