K9 Deputy Pursues Suspect Through Harris County in 40-Minute Chase

On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, a K9 Deputy from Constable Jerry Garcia’s Special Operations Unit initiated a traffic stop in the 1500 block of College Avenue, an area known for narcotics and other criminal activities. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Alejandro Villarreal, refused to stop and began evading the deputy.

The high-speed pursuit lasted over 40 minutes, extending south from College Avenue into a neighborhood off El Dorado. During the chase, deputies from Harris County Constable Precinct 8 and officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) provided assistance. At one point, the suspect vehicle collided with a Precinct 2 Sergeant’s vehicle, causing minor damage but no injuries.

DPS Troopers attempted a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to safely conclude the pursuit, but these attempts were unsuccessful. Eventually, deputies and troopers managed to box in Villarreal’s vehicle at Rimini Manor Drive, leading to his arrest.

Villarreal was charged with Felony Evading in a Motor Vehicle and was found to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for Theft. Constable Garcia expressed gratitude to DPS and deputies from Constable Phil Sandlin’s office for their support during the incident.
