Juvenile Killed in Minibike Crash During Traffic Stop Attempt in Harris County

A juvenile male was killed in a crash involving a minibike and an SUV on Wallisville Road in unincorporated Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, in the 15100 block of Wallisville Road near Evanston Road. Authorities said the juvenile was riding an unauthorized gas-powered minibike eastbound on the roadway.
A Harris County Sheriff’s Office sergeant observed multiple traffic violations and attempted to initiate a traffic stop by activating emergency lights and sirens. The juvenile then attempted to evade at an unsafe speed, driving recklessly and traveling on the wrong side of the roadway.
Investigators said the minibike ran a red light at Uvalde Road while still on the wrong side of the roadway and collided with a 2014 Ford Expedition.
The SUV was driven by Walter Rodriguez-Rivero, who was exiting a private driveway and attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of Wallisville Road to travel westbound.
The juvenile was found at the scene with no signs of life and was pronounced dead by North Channel EMS at about 1:41 p.m. due to injuries from the crash.
Authorities said video footage was recovered during the initial investigation. The case remains open and is being investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
