Houston Police Seek Public Assistance in Hit-and-Run Assault Investigation

The Houston Police Department has released surveillance footage of a suspect and a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run assault that occurred at 3300 Kelton Street around 2:15 a.m. on November 23, 2023.

The suspect is described as a short black male with a thin build, wearing a black shirt and gray pants. The individual was driving a black Dodge Ram pickup truck equipped with lights on its top.

The victim, a 23-year-old valet employee, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to an area hospital.

The incident unfolded as the victim was walking on a sidewalk on Kelton Street. An unknown male confronted him, prompting the suspect to exit his truck and push the unknown male away from the victim. Subsequently, both the victim and the males involved left the area.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect returned, driving his truck on Kelton Street. In a tragic turn of events, the suspect veered off the roadway and struck the victim on the sidewalk. The suspect fled the scene without stopping to render aid.

Detectives suspect that the initial confrontation may have stemmed from an encounter at a club in the 3330 block of Raleigh Street, as both the suspect and the unknown male were believed to have left the establishment just before the incident occurred.

The Houston Police Department urges anyone with information about the identity of the suspect and/or details about his vehicle to contact the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division at 713-308-8800. Alternatively, individuals can provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
