Houston Police Release Surveillance Video in Fatal Shooting of On-Duty Security Guard in Greater East End

HOUSTON, TX – Houston police have released surveillance video in the fatal shooting of a security guard that occurred at 340 South 69th Street in the Greater East End area.
The shooting happened at approximately 7:20 p.m. on January 7, 2026. The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Luis Quinteros.
According to HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. Vaughn and L. Patterson, officers responded to a shooting call at the address and found Quinteros suffering from a gunshot wound outside a business. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators determined Quinteros was working as an on-duty security guard when he was approached by a suspect described as a white or Hispanic male with short dark hair and facial hair. Police say the suspect placed a gun against Quinteros’ back and attempted to disarm him. A physical altercation followed, during which the suspect fired his weapon, striking Quinteros.
The suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
Authorities describe the suspect as a white or Hispanic male who was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and possibly blue jeans. Surveillance video of the suspect has been released, along with a photo of a hoodie he was seen wearing prior to and during the shooting.
