Houston Police Investigating Fatal Accident on Gulf Freeway

Houston police are currently conducting an investigation into a fatal crash that took place at 11900 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) around 5 a.m. on Sunday, September 24.

The identity of the deceased male is yet to be officially confirmed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer J. Leon provided details of the incident:

According to witnesses at the scene, the male victim was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway when he was struck by a gray Chevrolet Town & Country minivan, which was traveling in the southbound direction. Tragically, Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced the male deceased.

The male driver of the minivan, who remained at the crash site, was found not to be impaired. Following questioning, he was subsequently released.

The investigation is continuing.
