Houston Police Investigating Death of Woman Found After Fire at Assisted Living Facility

Houston police are investigating the death of a 65-year-old woman found at 617 Janisch Road around 1:55 a.m. on Sunday, September 28. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death. The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of her next of kin by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Montalvo and Detective D. Higgs reported that officers responded to a call from Houston Fire Department personnel after an adult female was discovered following a fire in her room at an assisted living facility. Paramedics pronounced the woman deceased at the scene.
Homicide detectives are working closely with HFD’s Arson Division to determine whether the fire contributed to the woman’s death. At this time, the investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
