Houston Police Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run on Gulf Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred at 7301 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) around 9:55 p.m. on Monday, December 16.

The identity of the deceased, a 19-year-old male, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer D. Thompson, the victim was on the east side of the freeway, attempting to cross multiple lanes of traffic on foot. He ran into a moving lane of traffic and was struck by an unidentified vehicle traveling north. The male was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid and fled the area.
