Houston Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Katy Freeway Service Road

Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at approximately 6:55 a.m. today (Jan. 24) on the 20000 block of Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road. The victim, a 33-year-old female, was driving a black Nissan Murano westbound on the service road.

According to initial reports, the female driver failed to stay in a single lane and drove over a curb on the west side of Fry Road beneath the freeway. Subsequently, the Nissan collided head-on with a supporting concrete pillar. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

The identity of the deceased is currently pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
