Houston Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Canino Road in Northside
Houston police are currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Sunday, December 17, at approximately 2:45 p.m. The incident took place at 100 Canino Road in Northside.
The identity of the deceased individual, a 40-year-old man, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of a silver Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was traveling southbound in the 7800 block of Airline Drive. The driver ran a red light at the intersection of Canino Road, colliding with a blue Hyundai Sonata traveling eastbound on Canino. The impact caused the Dodge to cross the median into the northbound lanes of Airline, where it struck a red Chevrolet Camaro, a blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, and a Ford F-150 pickup truck, all of which were waiting at a red light on the northbound side of Canino.
All three occupants of the Dodge, including the driver, exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot without providing assistance.
Tragically, the driver of the Hyundai was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics. No other individuals were injured in the multi-vehicle crash.
The investigation is continuing.
Anyone with information on the identities of the persons in the Dodge pickup truck or in this case is urged to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
