Houston Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal North Freeway Crash, Charged with Intoxication Manslaughter

Houston police have apprehended Edwardo Delgado, 36, in connection with the fatal crash that occurred at 4700 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) around 2:25 a.m. last Friday, December 22, 2023.

Delgado faces charges of intoxication manslaughter in the 228th State District Court. The female victim, aged 35, has yet to be identified pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The incident unfolded when Delgado, driving a silver Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on the freeway, failed to maintain a single lane and collided with a concrete barrier. Subsequently, the vehicle struck a concrete pillar and rolled onto its side. Tragically, the female passenger, identified as the victim, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Delgado, who sustained minor injuries, was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Upon investigation, authorities discovered that he was intoxicated, leading to his arrest for his role in the crash.
