Houston Man Charged with Murder in Synott Road Shooting That Killed 32-Year-Old

Houston, TX — A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at 4020 Synott Road around 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19.
Demarcus Johnson, 34, is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court. He was already in custody at the Harris County Jail on unrelated charges when he was identified as the suspect and formally charged on Thursday, August 21.
The victim has been identified as William Brantley, 32.
According to Houston Police Department Homicide Detectives S. Chettry and H. Martinez, officers responded to a shooting call and found Brantley suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a parking lot. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators learned Brantley had been involved in a physical altercation with a man, later identified as Johnson, who then shot him and fled the scene.
Johnson remains held at the Harris County Jail.
