Houston Bush International Airport Trespasser Sent to Federal Prison

Allan Leon Goins III, 36, has been sentenced to 12 months and a day in federal prison after pleading guilty to illegally entering a restricted airport area, announced U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani. The sentencing was ordered by U.S. District Judge Lee Rosenthal and includes an additional three years of supervised release, along with a restitution payment of $2,276.48.

Goins admitted to willfully breaching the restricted airport operations area at Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport on November 2, 2021. The area, designated for domestic and foreign air carriers, was accessed by Goins, who evaded security procedures, fencing, and restricted zones. During the incident, Goins also stole an Atlantic Aviation Inc. uniform and utility cart, causing damage to the cart.

Following his unauthorized entry, Goins led authorities on a pursuit that lasted over an hour under dark and foggy conditions. As a result, airport runways, taxiways, and the West complex operations were shut down for approximately two hours. Eventually, law enforcement located and arrested Goins, who, at the time of his arrest, made alarming statements, suggesting authorities should have shot him.

On November 5, 2021, a search of articles of clothing found in the vicinity where Goins was apprehended revealed a loaded Walther PPS 9mm caliber pistol. He remains in custody and will be transferred to a U.S. Bureau of Prison facility in the near future.
