Homicide Investigation Unearths Human Remains in West Bouldin Creek Greenbelt

On Monday, November 27, 2023, the Austin Police Department Homicide Unit received multiple tips leading to a shocking discovery in the West Bouldin Creek Greenbelt, situated in the 1100 block of South 6th Street. According to the information received, a murder had taken place several months prior, and the victim was allegedly buried within the Greenbelt.

In response to the tips, detectives from the Homicide Unit, along with Crime Scene Specialists, initiated an investigation. On November 29, 2023, they were joined by a search and rescue K9 unit to process the scene. The collaborative efforts led to the discovery of skeletal remains within the greenbelt, aligning with the details provided by the tipsters.

The collected remains were handed over to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office for further examination. With the assistance of the Texas State Anthropology Department, the identification process is currently underway.

An autopsy conducted by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office unveiled injuries consistent with homicide.
