Homeowner Fatally Shoots Suspect in Humble Following BBQ Pit Trailer Theft

On Sunday, February 18th, 2024, at around 5:00 a.m., Harris County Sheriff’s Office patrol units responded to reports of a shooting in the 10700 block of Kentington Oak in Humble, Texas. Upon arrival, authorities found a male inside a wrecked vehicle with gunshot wounds. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, the deceased male had attempted to steal a BBQ pit trailer from a residence in the area. The homeowner noticed the theft and pursued the suspect in his vehicle. He caught up with the suspect a short distance away and confronted him. The homeowner, fearing for his safety after suspecting the thief may have had a weapon, fired multiple shots at him, resulting in his death.

The identity of the deceased suspect is awaiting confirmation from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Another individual who was with the suspect in the vehicle at the time of the incident was unharmed and is not facing charges presently.

The homeowner, who cooperated fully with authorities, provided a detailed account of the events leading to the shooting. The case will undergo further investigation and will ultimately be presented to a grand jury by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office once the investigation concludes.
