Family Returning From San Antonio Trip Crashes on SH-99, 12-year-old Girl Killed

Late Sunday night, tragedy struck on SH-99 as a family was returning home from a weekend trip to San Antonio. Ms. Rangel-Ramos, 36, was behind the wheel with her five passengers, including her mother and four children, ages 1, 3, 12, and 16.

For reasons yet unknown, Ms. Rangel veered off the roadway, colliding with a cable barrier system, and her vehicle began to roll. During the crash, 12-year-old Camila, who was unrestrained, was ejected from the vehicle. She was found at the scene with no signs of life.

Emergency responders rushed the remaining passengers to the hospital, with the 16-year-old sustaining a broken clavicle being the only reported injury aside from the devastating loss of young Camila.

Ms. Rangel cooperated fully with the investigation, and authorities found no signs of intoxication. It’s been revealed that Ms. Rangel is the aunt of the deceased girl.
