High-Speed Pursuit Ends in DUI Arrest for Houston Woman

In the early hours of Tuesday, December 13, 2023, Toll Road Deputies from Constable Jerry Garcia’s Office were on proactive patrol when they spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Reacting swiftly, the deputies activated emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop.

However, the driver of the vehicle had other plans, refusing to stop and leading deputies on a brief pursuit. After a tense chase, law enforcement successfully brought the vehicle to a halt. Upon inspection, the female driver, identified as 21-year-old Jasmine Jade Lira, exhibited multiple signs of intoxication.

To determine the extent of her impairment, Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered. Subsequently, Lira provided a breath sample, which yielded results exceeding the legal limit. In light of these findings, Lira was safely arrested and later booked into the Harris County Jail on charges of Felony Evading and Driving While Intoxicated.
