High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Arrest of Felon with Firearm in Harris County

On January 2, 2024, Precinct 8 Deputy K. Peters, from Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office, attempted to pull over a vehicle lacking a license plate in the 13100 block of the Gulf Freeway. The vehicle evaded the stop, leading to a high-speed pursuit along the service road, reaching speeds exceeding 115 MPH and disregarding multiple red lights. The chase concluded in the 8600 block of Airport Blvd when the vehicle lost control and collided with a pole.

The driver, identified as 28-year-old Aidan Alexander Johnson, was apprehended. A subsequent check revealed that Johnson was out on bond from Comal County, Texas, and had prior felony convictions. Deputies recovered a firearm discarded from the vehicle during the pursuit.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was notified and opted to pursue felony charges against Johnson, including Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle, Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence, and Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon. Johnson was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing, where his bonds were set at a total of $120,000.
