HCSO Releases Footage of Deputies Response to Reported Break-In

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has made public the body-worn camera footage from a critical incident that unfolded at the Pines of Woodforest Apartments on February 3, 2024. Responding to an “In Progress” call at 90 Uvalde Road, deputies arrived at 2:14 a.m. after a resident reported a potential break-in.

Upon arrival, the first deputy cleared the caller’s apartment, finding no intruder. However, another neighbor informed deputies of a break-in at a nearby apartment. Investigating further, deputies observed a broken window near the front door of the second apartment. They knocked and announced their presence, at which point they noticed a female inside approaching the door with a firearm.

In response to the perceived threat, two deputies discharged their duty weapons, striking the adult female. Immediate life-saving efforts were initiated, and North Channel Emergency Medical Services transported her to a local hospital.

Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Division is conducting its own investigation to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
