The El Paso Police Special Traffic Investigations unit is continuing its probe into a fatal crash that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, February 11, 2024.

According to preliminary findings, 22-year-old Nadean Lopez from Northeast El Paso was traveling southbound in the 8500 block of Dyer when the incident transpired.

Reportedly, Lopez rear-ended a Nissan Maxima that had halted at a red light at the intersection of Dyer and Tetons. The collision caused 23-year-old Farajallah Younis’s vehicle, also in the intersection, to be struck. Tragically, 50-year-old John Cryan of El Paso, the driver of the Nissan, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Neither the driver of the Honda nor Lopez sustained injuries in the accident. However, officers took Lopez into custody on charges of Intoxication Manslaughter. Subsequently, she was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility and is currently being held on a $205,000 bond.
