Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Houston Area Women’s Center Unite to Combat Sexual Assault

In a joint effort to address the pressing issue of sexual assault, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, alongside the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), has teamed up with the Houston Area Women’s Center (HAWC) and various community partners. The collaboration aims to raise awareness about sexual assault and advocate for the fundamental right of every individual to feel safe.

At the forefront of this initiative is the Sexual Assault Response Team, a collective effort that brings together law enforcement, victim advocates, and other essential stakeholders. The team’s primary focus is to provide comprehensive support to survivors of sexual assault, recognizing the importance of a coordinated approach to address this sensitive and pervasive issue.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office and its partners are encouraging anyone who may be experiencing abuse to reach out for help. They have established hotlines at 911 and 713-221-6000 to ensure immediate assistance and support for those in need.
