Harris County High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Arrest of 19-year-old
Davian Joseph Godinez

On Saturday, November 25, 2023, Toll Road Deputies from Constable Jerry Garcia’s Office intervened in a dangerous situation as they observed two pickup trucks preparing to engage in an illegal street race. The incident unfolded as both trucks accelerated side by side to a high rate of speed.

In an effort to curtail the reckless behavior, deputies activated emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop. However, the driver of one of the trucks refused to comply, further escalating the situation. The driver not only ignored the attempts to stop but also turned off all exterior lights to the vehicle and accelerated at an even higher speed.

During the pursuit, the fleeing driver endangered public safety by weaving in and out of traffic, narrowly avoiding collisions with other vehicles on the roadway. The pursuit continued for a considerable distance before culminating in a collision with another motorist and subsequent crash into a ditch.

Fortunately, neither the fleeing suspect nor the other motorist sustained injuries in the collision. The driver, identified as nineteen-year-old Davian Joseph Godinez, was taken into custody by law enforcement officers. Mr. Godinez was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center, where he was booked on charges of Felony Evading.
