Harris County Deputy Discovers Major Marijuana Stash During Routine Traffic Stop

On January 10, 2024, Harris County Precinct 8 Deputy K. Peters, from Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 11600 block of the E Sam Houston Pkwy S due to multiple traffic infractions. Upon speaking with the driver, identified as 26-year-old Ruben Berumen Jr., Deputy Peters detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.

Subsequently, Deputy Peters conducted a probable cause-based search of the vehicle and discovered 2.19 lbs. of marijuana, along with multiple THC cartridges, edibles, and drug paraphernalia.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was notified and accepted felony charges for Possession of Marijuana. Berumen was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing, where his bond was set at $150.
