Grand Jury to Review Fatal Shooting Following Altercation at Avenue H in Houston

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 43-year-old man at 7300 Avenue H around 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11th.

Officers arrived at the scene in response to reports of a shooting and found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased is pending confirmation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Witness statements and initial investigations revealed that a verbal altercation between two groups escalated when the deceased male reportedly brandished a knife and swung it at members of the other group. Two men, both in their early 20s, then fired multiple rounds, striking the man several times.

The two shooters remained at the scene and were not injured during the incident.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and determined it will be referred to a grand jury for further evaluation.
