Fugitive’s Reckless Chase in Montgomery County Ends in Fatal Collision: Pedestrian Killed
Joseph Jebbia

On August 7th, at approximately 2:15 PM, deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, part of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, attempted to arrest 43-year-old Joseph Jebbia on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrant out of Montgomery County. When deputies tried to initiate a traffic stop on Jebbia’s vehicle, he fled the scene.

During the ensuing pursuit, Jebbia ran a red light at the intersection of Main Street and Oak Avenue, striking a vehicle driven by another citizen. This collision caused a chain reaction, with Jebbia’s vehicle subsequently hitting a pedestrian waiting at a bus stop on the corner of Main Street and Oak Avenue. The pedestrian, identified as a 57-year-old male, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jebbia continued to evade deputies, driving recklessly through residential areas and endangering other road users. The pursuit ended when Jebbia’s vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier at the intersection of Millwood Drive and Highway 249.

Upon arrest, deputies discovered a loaded rifle, body armor, and a quantity of drugs inside Jebbia’s vehicle. He has been charged with multiple offenses, including vehicular manslaughter, evading arrest, and possession of illegal firearms and drugs. Jebbia is currently being transported to Harris County Jail for processing.
