On June 11, 2025, 67-year-old Moises Perez Alvarez of Mexico was sentenced to 40 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after pleading guilty to the 2009 murder of 45-year-old Faith Marie Guillory in La Marque.

The murder took place on September 14, 2009. Following the crime, Alvarez fled to Mexico and evaded capture for more than 14 years.
