Fourth Suspect Charged in June 2022 Fatal Shooting; Three Others Previously Arrested

Charges have been filed against a fourth suspect, Moses Deshaun Reed, 32, in connection with the fatal shooting of Anthony Merchant, 59, at 8228 Swiss Lane on June 15, 2022. Reed has been charged with capital murder and is being held in the 339th State District Court. A March booking photo of Reed is attached to this release.

Two other suspects, Shane Henry, 20, and Christian Miller, 17, are also charged with capital murder in the 174th State District Court. A booking photo of Henry is attached, while Miller’s photo is not releasable due to his age at the time of the incident.

A second juvenile suspect, age 16, has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a capital murder charge. Information about the juvenile suspect is not releasable.

According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Watson and Detectives R. Waterwall, A. Dudley, and K. Heaverlo, officers responded to a shooting call outside the residence and found Merchant unresponsive in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported Merchant to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, where he was pronounced dead. The suspects had fled the scene before officers arrived.

Further investigation led to Henry’s arrest on October 12, 2022. Juvenile suspects were referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities. Miller was certified as an adult on March 15 and transferred to the Harris County Jail. Reed was charged on August 27, 2024, while already in custody on unrelated charges.
