Former Jefferson County Jail Sergeant Arrested for Official Oppression
Clayton Friddle

A former sergeant at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility has been arrested and charged with three counts of Official Oppression.

During a routine review of body-worn, facility, and in-car camera footage, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office discovered that 33-year-old Clayton Friddle engaged in several acts of Official Oppression, subjecting inmates to mistreatment while acting as a Correctional Officer.

Friddle was immediately suspended pending a disciplinary review board hearing, after which he was terminated. Official Oppression is a Class A Misdemeanor under Texas Penal Code.

Three cases were filed with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, and Friddle was indicted by a Grand Jury on all three counts on April 23, 2025.

He was arrested on April 24, 2025, by a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division Deputy and booked into the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. His bond was set at $2,000.00 per count, and he has since been released after posting bond.
