JACKSON COUNTY, Texas – A former Edna ISD teacher and coach reached a plea agreement Thursday, February 12th, resolving a case in which he had faced multiple felony charges and a potential sentence of up to 40 years in prison.

Logan Allen O’Connor, who was charged in September 2024 with three felonies, pleaded guilty February 12 to one count of Attempted Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student, a third-degree felony. As part of the agreement, prosecutors abandoned two other charges: Online Solicitation of a Minor, a third-degree felony, and Sexual Performance of a Child, a second-degree felony.

Under the plea deal, O’Connor was sentenced to four years of probation and ordered to complete 350 hours of community service. He must also pay fines and court costs. If he violates the terms of his probation, he could face up to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The agreement requires O’Connor to surrender his teaching certificate, have no contact with the victim or the victim’s family, and stay away from any property owned by Edna ISD.

The plea was entered one day after Edna ISD announced the retirement of Superintendent Robert O’Connor, the defendant’s father.
