Fatal Pedestrian and Truck Crash Under Investigation on Bissonnet Street in Southwest Houston
A fatal crash is currently under investigation by the Houston Police Department at 6000 Bissonnet Street, following an incident that occurred around 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14.
The victim, a 50-year-old woman, was crossing northbound on Rampart from the south side of Bissonnet when she was struck by a silver GMC Sierra pickup truck. The truck, turning east onto Bissonnet from Rampart, collided with the woman. Houston Fire Department paramedics quickly responded to the scene and transported her to Ben Taub General Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The female driver of the pickup truck, who remained at the scene, was found not to be impaired. She cooperated with authorities, underwent questioning, and was subsequently released.
At this point, investigators are still working to determine whether the victim was crossing the street in or near the crosswalk.
