Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash in Northwest Harris County Under Investigation

A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, around 9:22 PM in the 11500 block of Jones Road in northwest Harris County. Darrick Turner, driving a gold 2012 Buick Lacrosse northbound, lost control of his vehicle and crossed into the southbound lanes. Devion Spears, traveling southbound in a gray 2023 Nissan Kicks with an infant in the backseat, was struck by Turner’s vehicle. Hillary Roman, behind Spears in a black 2013 Mazda 3, was also hit.

Turner’s Buick first collided with the Nissan, then spun counterclockwise, hitting the Mazda along its passenger side. Turner’s vehicle left the road, flipped over, and crashed into a fence on the west side. Emergency services transported Turner to HCA Houston Northwest, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Spears and his infant were taken to HCA Houston ER with non-life-threatening injuries, while Roman was transported to HCA North Cypress with similar injuries. As of now, no charges have been filed, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing its investigation into the incident.
